THE BIG MOVE!

Now it’s time to plan, organize, pack, and you guessed it: STRESS-OUT!

Trust me… I KNOW! Every time I move, I’m pretty sure it’s the most stressful thing I’ve ever done, and EVERY time I ask myself,
“How did I accumulate THAT much stuff?!” Oh My-Lanta!

For my last move, I decided to utilize the services of a moving company. Thank goodness after much research, I went with a company called
“Overall Moving”, a family-owned local business, to help me through the process.

Right from the very first call, Donavon, the Manager, was super responsive and ready to help me figure out the best way to tackle this monumental task.
After my move, I put together a list of tips and tricks I learned from Donavon and the team to save you some stress during what should be an exciting part
of your home journey. Read on for best-practice advice to help “pack away the crazy” and make your next move smoother, more efficient, and WAY less stressful.

It’s All About Preparation

Planning

As soon as you decide to move, contact your moving team. The earlier, the better. They can assist you with organizational advice, packing, purging, etc.
Be sure to have your moving company come out right away to not only give you a quote but also identify any large furniture pieces that may require additional manpower.
A little bit of extra planning can save you a ton of time and headaches on moving day. Make sure to get on their schedule as soon as possible since they may be booked weeks in advance.

Packing

  • Use uniform-sized boxes for easier stacking.
  • Fill every box to the top but don’t make them too heavy.
  • Carefully pack fragile items and mark those boxes with LARGE, CLEAR WRITING.
  • Tape all boxes shut and stage them for easy access and clear identification.

Labeling

Be organized! Use colored paper or labels and assign each room a color. Write the room and contents on each box.
When you arrive at your new home, post the corresponding color on the doorway of each room to make the unloading process much easier.

Pets

Remember, if we’re stressed, our fur babies are likely 10 times more stressed. If possible, plan a little vacation for Fluffy on moving day to keep them safe and out of harm’s way.

Enjoy the Excitement!

With the right planning, preparation, and professionals like Overall Moving, moving day can be a lot less stressful.
This will allow you to fully enjoy the excitement of moving into your new home!
